My buddy called me up with a new place to look along the Truckee River and said the weather looked worthy, so, why not I said. We went to an older area where the old highway supposedly went through. Started off with a 1946 wheatie, so I'm thinking maybe we can finally find an old coin or two. The ground was frozen to 3 inches down and it was a pain to dig anything. I got a steady 91-92 vdi on the Simplex, which I just knew was a quarter, so I was half heartedly digging through the ice-dirt when, at about 5 inches down I see what looks to be a ring. Sure enough, out pops this strange Sterling and 10k gold ring with a ruby like stone. Kinda grubby looking out of the ground, but cleaned up nicely. I've never seen a ring with such construction, it's silver where the finger touches with the bulk of it being 10k yellow gold on top. Hopefully my silver streak is turning towards gold for 2021!
