Well I had to go to the dentist today. Have some problems that need taking care of but my dentist had to take impressions first before he could do the work.........SO since I had the day free what better to do on one of the hottest and most humid days of the year than go digging! So I did. I was on the quest for big iron. Found some large fragments and LOTS of fired bullets but the whole one eluded me today. If you remember I found this spot earlier in the year. At that time I found close to 70 fired bullets and among them was a dropped and fired 69 Prussian. Today I found close to 60 and literally stopped digging because I was plum worn out. Many of the bullets are Williams Cleaner bullets that have had a direct hit completely mushrooming. I also found some fired pistol bullets that are ones I don't recognize. I will post these later after cleaning and see if anyone can ID them. This site was a target range as well as seeing live action. There are MANY more left. Some of the holes were giving up 2 and 3 bullets at a time. The only brass item looks like an early tompion. I also found a 1945 Nickel and a eyeballed a 1940's Coca- Cola bottle. The frag is from a mortar ball that had to be at least 10 inches ....maybe bigger. If I found a whole one I seriously don't know if I could get it back to the truck. Would have to weigh over 200 lbs. I'll be back. Devonrex
