The San Saba Treasure Room at Menard, Texas

Interesting places I found while browsing around the LLano county / various rivers.

(Looks like they're mining something). There is another one a few miles directly south and two more north. Any ideas? Perhaps a business?

Also, take a look at this strange object... it looks like a man made cave, but that might be my imagination taking over.

I know, I know, I'm fishing... but this 'legend' has a lot of people fishing.

Those are all hard rock granite quarrys. There are not any gold or silver operations that I know of in operation in that area right now. North of there near Kingsland there was the Heath mine. This map may be a little bit of help.
Now there was an operation at the base of Enchanted rock just south of that quarry in the 30s but during the scrap drive of WW2 the machine and associated equipment was scrapped for the war effort. You can however still pan in Sandy creek just out side of the park accessing the creek bed via a bridge.

I was hunting that area in the mid 60s. They were surely there. Just exactly what they were doing, is still a mystery to me.
Found an Arrastre in western Mason, Co., that the stones were flat, but stacked "vertically" in the circle. The dia was 4'.
Not far way was a red hill, which I didnt realize till after leaving the area. This "hill" is on private property, and is as red as the "Red Chispa" mine, in CA. Not far away was more hematite, magnasite than Ive ever seen!
have a "little" more, but access would be hairy.
