Just a heads up for you guys in the States in case you havenāt seen this UK BBC programme called āThe Repair Shopā.
People bring along their heirlooms in dilapidated or broken condition and a workshop full of experts sympathetically restores them or gets them back into working condition while trying to keep as much of their heritage as possible. Lots of the items have treasured memories and heart-warming stories behind them as well as fascinating insight about how they were originally made. Thereās also lots of tips and hints to be had about cleaning and restoration techniques.
Series 6 starts shortly in the UK and, although I donāt think the programme has actually aired in the States, I believe Series 3 is currently available on Netflix.
You can get a feel for what kind of show it is from their YouTube channel below but itās one of the few ādonāt-missā programmes in our household. Everything stops when itās on and the wife and I sit there, fascinated.
