finding a coin with a hole in it is intresting. heres some info as to what you may or may not have. a coin with a square hole in it around the 12:00 pos means it was done early on type-b cut nails or horse shoe type. common in mid-1800s in addition coins where holed for copper patches (large cents) for machines and household items and for nailing beams to foundations corners to bring good luck to the homestead. ROUND HOLES found in coins where made around 1890s and on refered to as wire nails most likley to where as jewerly or a a special keep sake
