Interesting, maybe it is a cover up. Some people just want to be the know all be all. They just cant have someone something more powerful . Everybody wants to rule the world.

This from "America's Next Great Awakening" pp. 171-172: On the last day of his life in Bangkok he said, “I believe that by openness to Buddhism, to Hinduism, and to these great Asian traditions, we stand a wonderful chance of learning more about the potentiality of our own traditions, because they have gone, from the natural point of view, so much deeper into this than we have.” Merton died later that afternoon from apparent electrocution by a fan in his room. Suspicious circumstances and the absence of an autopsy have led several authors, including Matthew Fox, to contend that Merton was murdered at the hands of the CIA due to his anti–Vietnam War stance.
