Picture 1 & the blue background coins were a combo of 2 short hunts on an ankle breaker Roman Site (Wood Site). On Friday Cru'dad went to check if they had drilled the Wood Site but it was still in the same state. As Cru'dad couldn't walk on the field but wanted a short hunt, he went up a couple of Tyre-Tracks for just 1 hour. Getting 2 scrappies, a Roman Mount & a Nero Denarius (AD65) Only our 2nd ever Silver Nero! After hearing about this I went up with Land-Mag whilst he shot in the woods but after 50 minutes I blanked, so in desperation I tried in the nearby woods where I picked up 1 scrappy & 1 nice Postumus. (1.5 hours)8-)

Today we returned to The Potato Field, conditions were perfect with a pie crust top & wet underneath. Our target was the same as normal on here; 1 hammered. It wasn't to be, but at least we got a first/best instead:
5 hours;

New Zealand Forces Button (don't get many)
Livery Button (Type I need)
18th C Silver Plated Officers IV Queen's Own Dragoons Button
18th C Gold Plated Officers Navy Button (best example I have)
Coin Weight
Broken Tudor Clothes Fastener
Lead Token
1750 Portuguese Copper
1666 Half Penny Token (First)

Great Denarius! Nero is hard to come by. I have one and i'm very happy about. Most will never see a silver Nero. Or even a bronze of him.... :occasion14:

Nice array of finds.
That’s a cool Denarius.

Congrats on the very productive hunt! :occasion14:

Congrats on the half-penny token. You've got endless cool coins over there.

This one is a very interesting 17th C Token, as it states 'HER' Half Peny, most businesses at the time were 'HIS', so it makes this much more scarce.

Really enjoyed looking at these, really lovely finds Crusader [emoji106]

I have a number of Silver Tokens, but they didn't produce them in the 17th C (that I'm aware of), so they are late 18th-19th C. I'm not aware of any UK Gold Tokens, but they may exist, no clue really...

That tater field has been giving up her treasures amazing post my friend

That Roman is crisp! The one on the left. What astonishing detail for a coin of that age in the ground. Amazing

Great finds as usual Cru. I always enjoy following your posts to see what history comes out next. I could not imagine the thrill of hunting sites with the possibility of finding things with such historical value. Truly amazing! Keep them coming!

THANKS for all the kind comments.
