The Platinum Continues to Amaze

Went to the local fairgrounds where a yearly fair finished two weeks ago. I took my coin sweeper(Platinum) to cherry pick the grounds. I was there for about two hours and had found about 50 clad coins ranging from the surface to three inches deep. For giggles, I decided to hunt an area that I can usually find a wheat penny or two, but not the loads of clad. I had hunted this area a while back with the Platinum so I was not expecting too much. Right off the bat I got a bouncing 50 to 84 signal that changed depending on the direction of the sweep. I dug down about three inches and found the tab part of a newer pull tab. I rechecked the hole with my pinpointer and got a deeper signal. From two inches deeper comes the 84 signal which was a 1965 clad quarter. I have had more expensive detectors with dd coils pull this feat, but the Platinum was spot on and with a concentric coil to boot. A few minutes later I got a perfect, repeatable 78-80 signal that showed 6 inches on the depth gauge in pinpoint. That coin turned out to be a 1917 wheat penny from 7 inches deep. Two short passes later, I got a similar signal and it too was an old wheat penny. If anyone is looking for an inexpensive detector that is more than capable, give this detector a try. I hate to sound like a "broken record", but this detector is the best bargain I have seen. R.L.

Cool congrats on the finds looks like a pretty nice machine.

I have a Etrac and bought my son a Platinum, wow what a machine! It is fast and discriminates well. The Etrac will give you a complete picture of what lies below and this seems to drive allot of people crazy (too many noises). The Platinum will not process the whole picture but will definitely home in on the coins and that is what matters.
