WHAT KIND OF TREASURE ARE WE HUNTING TODAY ?
Detector(s) used
MINELAB E TRAC, EXCAL2,QUATTRO,WHITE 6000 DI PRO SL,EAGLE SPECTRUM,SILVER UMAX ,BANDIDO UMAX VARIOUS VINTAGE
well my headhunter pirate was bought in march for learning how to water hunt but had seen land use only til today.apart from a quick saltwater dip test to make sure it didnt false a lot or i would have traded up for a diff mach. soooooooo. i finally get to the beach.wow, this is very hard.i can see its gonna take a lot of dedication to find anything good. location was van buren state park beach near south haven mi. kudos to mich parks for allowing detectors.the ranger sez. if u find anything really valuable u have to show and we decide if u can keep it. SURE OK . water reasonable temp nice day.equipment performing properly. this is gonna be easy. NOT.even gentle wave action is frustrating if ur not used to it !!! ur trying to see where to dig and its all moving! add in a bottom w scattered rocks. whoa.so we better start in the shallow area.few TARGETS first exciting find a melted metal blob.found several of these like aluminum stones. few pcs rusted iron with discrim low a sm pc of pipe and thats about it.when it started to get hotter i moved neck deep to get my shoulders out of the sun but again just few junk.no coins or anything interesting. so did i accomplish anything. i guess i did.i was able to locate and recover about 12 to 15 targets.the scoop work fine. only one target i couldnt find and i would assume it was small enough to get thru my scoops holes so i gave up on it. only one pulltab was kinda nice as they are my constant companions on land.soo about 2 hours and struck out.try a diff location tomorrow. had the tesoro along and knew i could score at leasta few coins on the dry portion of the beach .but i wanted to try the water machine and was willing to find nothing in order for the chance to find a jewelry item in the water. the wife was gettin kinda lonely so we go visit her for a while.then had about 40 min left and gave the tesoro a spin managed 17 cents a junk peace sign medal and a lithium battery for a camera. dry sand way out produced the water.anybody know why not much action here?

Don't give up like they say practice makes perfect....

When you get it down and start finding gold the 17 cent will look like well pocket change.
Keep at it a it will come.

I agree with the above, experience with the machine and in the water will make a huge difference. You may want to install a magnet in your scoop the keep from chasing small iron objects. Best to you, Mike.

It will come Scrounger. I got lucky on my first outing and hit a Platinum Band but I know that is unusual. You are right about work. The water throws in a whole new aspect of fatigue that is not present on land. You are constantly working against the resistance of the water and even on a calm day it is a chore. Add in some surf and wind and it can make you think twice about what you are doing.

The glint of gold in the scoop will override all of that though and that is what keeps us coming back. The lure and the thrill of the find. That is what it is all about.

Good Luck,

DaCHief
