Howdy, All,
I haven't posted much of anything lately because my new thing seems to be finding nothing but trash and pennies. Lots of pennies...mostly memorials. Even in places that don't make much sense to be popping pennies out of the ground. Nonetheless, I've been digging them; helps me to learn my machine, and I figured that eventually, I'd stumble upon that elusive Indian-head cent.
Well, FINALLY!! I got one today. It came from a section of yard by the door of an old town building that used to be a church, erected in 1815. It's a real shame that they've paved almost all the area by the side of the building that the doors are on. Anyway... I plan to spend a lot of time there.
The coin itself isn't particularly pretty. The back looks better than the front, and I can't quite make out the date (yet, anyway...), but I'm thrilled! I'm totally making the "find face" --> I'll post a pic when it looks decent enough to photograph (if it ever does).
I have quite a little pile of dug coins (pennies, mostly - LOL!) that need to be cleaned up now. I keep reading about electrolysis that some of you are doing, and am considering trying it, although I am a little hesitant. Any suggestions or threads that I should pay particular attention to? Or should I stick with a different method of cleaning; a decent yet safe solvent of some kind?
Thanks in advance,
Ceejay
