The parks and wood are where the action is - make sure you're packing!

This is my total amount of cartridges and bullets for 2007. Many of these were found in parks! Jeeez, what am I doing at home on the PC when all the action goes on in the parks and woods at night. The unspent blank 223 cartridge was found in a church yard. I suspect there was some sort of ceremony where they had a gun salute and this one got away. Various calibers, 223, 243, 45, 22 and 12 and gauge.

When the barbarian hordes come, the US citizenry will be ready for them.

Thanks for looking

The cartridge that is unspent is I beleive a practice cartridge. Maybe thats not the correct term? I have never owned a gun/rifle...........so dont know a lot about them. What I do know is I have dug up thousands, yes THOUSANDS of these in my yard, that are both spent, and unspent. I have lived here for 7 years on my present location(moved in modular home). I bought 15 acres here 10 years ago. It was used before I bought it as a local National Gaurd camp area, and practice range. I have filled many 5 gallon buckets with these. More and more come to surface every year. Tried to detect here, thinking the gaurd members could have lost both coins and rings, but get so many hits from the spent brass, I cant get anything else. That was useing a 9" coil. I may try a smaller 2 1/2" this spring, on my Garrets.

Thanks for responding, I believe the cartridge that looks like bird shot is what they use for 21 gun salutes. It just makes a loud bang. A blank. Otherwise, around a military cemetery it would be like a war zone with bullets flying about.

Sell the brass. Copper is $3.00 a pound.

Say! What a neat find. This gives me an idea. A police fireing range is located just half a mile from my house. I hear them shooting every Sunday afternoon. They fly a flag when they are practicing so no one wanders down range from them. What a good place to detect for the lead and brass.

It is a 5.56 M-16 blank. I have used many of them as i am a retired Marine.
