Been detecting a Saxon/Norman market site now for 20 plus years. This site as probably given up more late Saxon coins then anywhere I know. Now you can go 30 mins between signals, but still the tiny finds sometimes surface. These are cut quarter coins the left one is Aethelred 2nd 978-1016 first small cross type, the other is William 1st 1066-87, sword type. Both very rare coins, when I first detected this site all those years ago full coins from this time came up every year !.ps got wet through searching the other day.

Robert.

Those are great finds. My old stomping ground did pretty good today as well.

Hi Cru, yes good finds, but just a shadow of what this site used to produce, wonder what lays below the plough line:goldpan:

hi Colin, cheers how's it going up north ?. Just spent last 20 mins chasing my dog around the estate, shot through the door chasing a cat, wet through again:BangHead:
