The New Guy from Washington

Greetings! And Hello from Western Washington.

I'm new to this whole hobby, so I'm looking forward to figuring this all out. After watching a "Diggers" marathon on television last week, my 9 year old son bent my arm to buy a metal detector, so a Garrett AT Pro is on the way, along with an MP Series MP3 Pro for him. I've been doing quite a bit of research on the local history around here and am getting very excited to get digging. I hope to one day be as excited as the boys on the Diggers show and perhaps find myself some "Tweezable G" or at least a bit of clad......

Welcome from N. Mississippi. The ATP is a good machine. Take your time and enjoy the sport. I've found the more I hurry, the more I miss. I've found that the Pro does a great job of discriminating where trash is masking a good target. Watch the videos that come with it and Good luck.

Thank you all for the welcoming comments. I'm fortunate, in a way, that I don't have my detector yet. I've been reading the manual over and over and doing a LOT of research. I've lived in this area for about 6 years and have only finally read up on its history.

I'm also fortunate that my job has me traveling a lot. I cover 7 states as part of my sales territory. I have plans to visit most, if not all of them, with my detector in hand.
