Don't have pics; I chronicle hunts with just the gopros and then edit in some stills. Definitely excited about the machine! Happy hunting.

Any pics?

Thanks for the video & info on the MX Sport really considering one for my next machine.

Hi! You won't go wrong with that one...I am truly impressed. Great depth and accuracy so far. Can't wait to try a wide variety of sites - have some good ones lined up for this weekend. Happy hunting to you and thank you for watching!!

I see that Whites is now doing a re work on this detector to correct faulty software and poor function.

Hey Slinger - Thought you would be proud of me - Found this the other day at an early 1900's farm house. As soon as I found it, I thought of you :occasion14:

I just received mine yesterday. Took it out for a quick run this morning. Seemed to work fine for the hour I used it. Where did you hear that info from?

it is all over the forums. call the company and ask for return stickers and they will take care of it. maybe your deal will handle it also.

I've read about the issue, pretty minor, certainly does not render the unit unusable out of the box. Andy Sabisch has given it favorable reviews and did note the glitch. I guess I will see for myself once it arrives. But bottom line, Whites is standing behind their product, getting the fix on the street ASAP, and supporting their customer base with free two-way shipping if you want to get your machine updated. Good info to have before you buy but not something that appears to be a show stopper. Thanks for the heads up, although the words you used imply a more serious problem that what I think actually exists.

I sent an email to whites and receives a very quick email back on how to send back my unit for a firmware upgrade.

A paragraph in the email stated

While the update will be especially helpful to experienced users, the current version's long-tone*"lock-on" audio may be preferable for some users.*Updating is at the user's discretion.*If you aren't experiencing any problems with your MX Sport, no action is needed. All MX Sports manufactured after 3-24-16 will automatically have the latest firmware.

Whites seems not to be calling it a glitch, just something that experiences users prefer not to have. I wonder what would be a reason why someone would opt out of the newest firmware? Is there any benefits to having the long tone "lock on"?

I would suggest running some tests with adjacent coin targets and see if the issue bothers you or would keep you from locating a target. If yes, get it updated. As to why some may prefer the behavior, some inexperienced detectorists may find that the lock-on signal assures them of at least identifying one of the two adjacent targets vs. two short beeps. It all depends on your experience with other detectors and your expectations on how they should behave. I hope to get mine next week so I can check it out for myself and decide. I will probably opt for the update, eventually.
