Ok, first, I want to apologize to all my fans. I left an "end -of-year" post the other day, I promise, I honestly thought I was done for the year, but then the temps hit the 40's, my MD started to feel lonely, sorry, no excuses. Can you ever find it in your hearts to fogive me?? :'(

Now for the good part..........

Went out near a historical site today, it was a federal office of indian affairs back in it's day. The area adjacent to the building is a public park, so, I went A-zapping. The whole place was loaded with "junk" signals, and I wanted to hit as much as possible, so I was ignoring them. There were also A-LOT of "hot" rocks, I tested a few of them, they showed copper/silver, but I know some about rocks-at best, they were iron ore. After a few more minutes, I hit a........weird...signal, it sounded like a penny, but registered as a dollar. It was also VERY big. I hadn't dug anything worth dirtying my shovel yet, so I figured, what the heck(more out of curiosity than anything)and I dug it - that's right, I dug.......And made my coolest find to date.

This being an area of Indian trade, it is probably a nugget brought here for that purpose as we are about 250 miles from areas where native copper is found, so, I guess this is a relic too !!

I am absolutely buzzed by this find, I apologize for the fake "last- post", but hey, I GOT A NUGGET !!!!!

It measures 7" long, 4" across, and 2.5" thick. Weight is probably 8-10 lbs.

It would still look very nice in a display case...congratulations.

Excellent Find! ;D

That is a really cool find. Where is native copper from ? I don't think I have ever seen any.

thats awesome

Nice find, any silver on it ? I found a fist sized piece with silver on it once. You can't forget about float copper, but given the location I doubt that its float.

That is a find!!! You need to display it or donate it. It is just beautiful plus the history with it.

Congratulations Gold Fish, I was waiting for the pictures of the farm. I am glad you found that nugget.

mmm But I think we can only forgive you if you share your finds lol ;D ;D ;D

I would have guessed a copper nugget THAT size would have come out of Michigan, but I see you are from the general area. That is a AWESOME speciman you have there. Congrats. ;)

Hi Goldfish nice green rock.congrats I got sucked in by "last post of the year " and when i saw "nugget "got sucked in again. ;D ;D ;D ;D

tinpan

That's a very cool nugget, i show at the Tucson Gem and Mineral show. There are many collectors who would love to have such a nice specimen. If you can find a site of specimen dealer who exhibit there you might get an idea of value, I'd say in general "its a cool keeper"
