It's huge though, for a button... you can see that it's bigger than the halfpenny. What in the world would you use such a huge button for? ???

EDIT: When I get home I'll take better pics and post them in the What Is It? forum, I guess.

how did you get permission to hunt a meetinghouse? Quaker i"m assuming?? I tried to get permission for one when I lived in PA and it was not permitted.

Mennonite, actually. It's on private land that the owners have opened for public use as a park. The meetinghouse is old, it was built in the 1880s (to replace an older one originally built in 1812) and defunct shortly thereafter. The park is set aside to preserve a tiny 18th-century cemetery adjacent to the meetinghouse.

There are several such meetinghouses in my area but this is the only one I'm aware of that sits surrounded by its original open space. Another one on the other side of town had been repurposed by the borough as a power station shed and also adjoins a small playground.
