I think he misspoke about automatic weapons - which are already highly highly restricted/regulated. He probably meant semi automatic.

Yes, it just shows a lack of understanding about the basics of the issue. And one of the most useless distinctions as well.

I can fire a bolt almost as fast as a semi auto, and no one talks about banning semi-auto shotguns, which are much more devastating than a 223.

But this guy controls a lot of the world's media. I'm shocked.
