First it isn't me. It's on a penny auction I use called mans stuff. This guy is selling 14, 1 gram bullion bars of COPPER and right now with a day left they are at 21.56!! That's $630 a pound! He even posted in the comments between bids that they are 1 gram bars and to make sure everyone understood that and guess what someone ran it up a 10 spot. Oh man it kills me what people will pay with the word bullion after it. Especially around here we have a bunch of redneck survivalist lol.

Sound more like the zombie sheeple than survivalist buying less than a 1982 pennies worth of copper for 21 bucks.:sign10:

I've sold items worth just a few bucks for over $50 because a couple of people thought they were neat. That's the bonus side of running an auction and letting the bidding decide the price.

I think that's more like $21.53 for 4 & 2/3rds of an 82 or prior penny not less than a single penny. Either way it's crazy!

Makes me feel better about paying $5 a piece for the two 1 ounce copper bullion bars I bought a year or so ago. I bought em cause they were neat not for their weight value. Oh lord I would take just 25% of what this guy is getting per weight for my bars & Id still double my money!

Well the final price is $21.56 for 14, the price from last night. I think someone finally did some research into what they were maybe. They were pretty cool looking, there was some colonial ships, buffalo, and maple leaves. Really at a dollar a piece the guy only paid $7 over ebay selling price for the lot. He must be investing for the future.

Or he seriously collects that stuff? Who knows? The price is nuts to me but I'm no copper expert! And I rechecked my cost on my 2 1 oz copper bullion bars from a year ago & it was $6 + 10% for 2 bars so $6.60 ($3.30 each) + tax.

I like Copper & Brass as an investment.

Seriously though. If you bought 200rds of military surplus .308 ammo 10 years ago when it cost around $20 that same ammo is worth about $175 today.

Oh I know what your saying I just couldn't resist the "spending them" part of my comment! You have without doubt been very wise if you have a lot of that put up & for more than one single reason too!

I stuck 14 1981 pennies on that auction site tonight, Im going to see if they buy those up also.

Looks like somebody else is trying to get in on this game, too. I just spotted an ad on Craigslist offering "1 0z walking liberty copper bullion rounds" for $3. Included was this picture:

I'm not sure what the spot price of copper is these days but I would bet my life it is WAY less than $3 an ounce. And one other thing... might this guy be flirting with counterfeiting by using this design on his coins?

Spot on copper is usually around $3.00 a pound. This design is from a silver round, not a legal tender coin. Does look a little like a walker but probably not close enough.

So this guy's business model is to produce a coin with that looks similar to a real coin and hope there are lots of people who don't realize he is selling an ounce instead of a pound. Clever but a tad shady in my opinion.

Well... I am frequently amazed at how many people pay little attention to details. For example, I got a message from an ebay member asking about one of the sports jerseys I currently have listed. He wanted to know what size it was. The size is clearly stated in the title of the listing and there is a photo showing the tag that reads, "SIZE 54". I can easily imagine there are people who will assume this is a gold or silver coin or assume the coin weighs a pound instead of an ounce. At least, that is what this guy seems to be counting on. Just like nickleanddime was talking about in the OP, some people make wildly inaccurate assumptions.
