The first two banks I went to were dismal at best---no halves and really dirty pennies---but third time's the charm. I found:

3 1950's wheaties

1 war nickel (1945 S)

23 40%ers

6 Ikes

And a Franklin!!!

Bye-bye skunk!

Nice job FB.....love the skunk picture...lol. After yesterdays' finds he can rest for awhile. What year is the Franklin?

Keep em coming.....

BTW - How was the Mother's Day get together? Did you tell her some good stories? Find any good stuff in her change? Will she be the next CRH'ing member?

The Franklin was a '58. Funny, I find more Walkers than Franklins, so finding that one was a nice treat.

Mothers Day was great. She loved the pendant I gave her, and then she surprised me by giving me a 1945 Mercury dime she found! WTG mom! I told her that I'm trying to finish a complete set of wheat pennies from circulation, so she's looking out for me. My girlfriend, mom, dad, and I enjoyed dinner at a nicer-than-expected Mexican restaurant, and overall, we had a pleasant time, which was quite the event considering all four of us are overly stubborn individuals. No luck in her change purse, but no biggie considering what a great day it was. We all couldn't stop laughing because our waiter looked exactly like a very young George W. Bush. We later walked to the bookstore and parused books and magazines of our respective interests. I, of course, looked at the coin magazines among other things. All the while, I regaled her with dramatic stories of the exciting and dangerous world of Coin Roll Hunting. "It was five minutes till the banks closed, and all I had was ten dollars..." or "I didn't have an account there, and the branch manager was my teller..." or "The coin counter was broken and I had two boxes of pennies to cash in..." LOL. She got a kick out of it. In all seriousness, my mom is merely glad I have a hobby that doesn't get me into trouble, and one which is tangential to my girlfriend's hobbies---she likes stamps, garage sailing, using our toy metal detector, and treasure hunting in general. Dad just wants to make sure I know which coins are good investments. haha.

Sounds like a good time had by all.......that's great FB! Thanks.

Fiatboy, why are you so excited about Ikes? A lady told me she has about a thousand she would sell me at face value but I can't see why? I think I'm gonna getem and I still don't know why. A possible silver?? Big deal after a thousand.

I like Ikes! Here's why:

The possibility of 40% silver.

The possibility of Morgan or Peace dollars.

They remind me of the old silver dollars.

They remind other people of the old silver dollars.

Bank tellers tell me that they are increasingly rare.

My local coin dealer pays $1.07 to $1.10 per Ike.

Oh yeah, and they'e HUGE, which since they're clad, I think is funny. :D soooo much clad in just one coin.
