The last of peapickin'
I Can't go to my 1812 location in the swamp these days as the mosquitos are there in numbers, singing and gayly laughing about the guy whose face they devoured the other day. . The thirty-five years of my dearly loved productive fields back in Pa. are now completely developed, (and I'm too scary looking and old to go around asking permission for new ground anymore)...so I'm back to where I was three years ago, trenching and sifting my little parcel of front and back yard. Bless my wife!
First pit was littered with iron and with the exception of two smooth George's and some redware at depth, mostly newer (1850's+) stuff which is why I could never penetrate it even with smallest coil.. The second pit was the last untouched area of my wife's nice leave it to beaver yard, a few feet away from where I'd found my "Monroe" button several years ago. With the exception of a little piece of Chew pottery nearer the surface, and a clasp of a shoe buckle at depth with iron, all were small low conductive buttons, tobac, one pewter, a small brass, and a cuff at around a foot and a half. A tiny haul, but fun as always.
I hope I remembered how to upload
