Would you believe that during Abe and Mary Lincoln's most vulnerable time, that the Knight's of the Golden Circle were able to take advantage and actually hold the Lincoln's hands? Physically hold their hands and partake in secretive seances that were held with the president and his wife.
They were that crafty.

Holding hands behind closed doors in small clandestine meetings, trying to talk to the dead. Can you imagine the doing it took to get their people that close. CLOSE as in .....taking them in when they found out what the Lincolns were doing. They had people that were hovering in the shadows, just waiting for signs of any vulnerability. Then once they found a cut in the armor, they were on it.
