Did you ever have a change of plans that turned out be a great hunt?
I left the house at 5:30 this afternoon with intentions to go to a small park adjacent to a 1930s school. It's about 5 miles from the house. Parked the truck and got my gear together and then checked for my Baltimore Co. permit. I had not put my updated permit in the backpack. Had my city permit but not the one I needed. I didn't want to head back home to print a copy, so I decided to head south and get to the nearest city park. The F75 was picking up some electrical interference from the power lines streetside, so I worked my way in and began looking for targets. First coin dug was a wheatie...good sign! Then some of the usual trash, so I migrated away from the trash and got into a zone with a good target now and then; these were deep. Along came a faint 91 VDI. Down about 8 inches I see a silver rim on end and there was a sterling ring! About a foot away from the ring was a 1957 Jeff. In all, 7 dimes, 2 nickels, 2 memorials and 3 wheats. One wheat was down 8 or 9 inches and 'green', so much so that I thought I was going to clean off an Indian, but it turned out to be a 1910 wheat.
So that the hunt that wasn't intended turned out to be a great time in the city.
