The "Holy Grail"?

Not real sure about the origin but I found this beauty in a seasonal creek that runs through the property my family homesteaded in the late 1800's. It has some marks on the bottom however. Its says:

then a little anchor like sign

Re: The "Holy Grail"?

You found the Holy Grail too?!!!! Ok! Ok !! So mines a tin cup. But you never know.

I'm thinking your cup is for Communion services for a catholic church. But I'm not catholic,I don't even think I'm spelling it right, so I could be wrong. I wonder how it got there? Cool Find!! HH

Re: The "Holy Grail"?

Nice find Orygun. Most likely a communion cup, but not necessarily catholic. Many other Christian religions also use a communion cup. You may wish to check with local churches. Many times there are thefts from churches and people will take silver items, or that which they believe to be silver. You may be able to return something of value to a local church. Congrats...Lance

Re: The "Holy Grail"?

Nice find! My wife who is a Methodist minister says it is a Protestant communion cup. If it were Catholic it would have Christ on the cross. She says it was most likely used during communion as part of a baptismal service at the creek. That would explain how it managed to be found in a creek. Very coofind. Two Dogs
