"The hawk is out" is an old Yankee term meaning the north wind is blowing hard. Well that has been going on a lot here recently!! Saw this BIG guy up about 70' in a big beech tree. He must be about three feet from tip of tail to top of head, all puffed out in the cold. He's looking down towards my bird feeder and where I toss peanuts for squirrels. Couldn't zoom in any more with my little Coolpix. Last year I was throwing some nuts to the squirrels, had about eight of them running around in a 20' circle, all of a sudden there he came swooping down from nowhere and grabbed one. I realized my squirrel feeding station was doubling as a hawk feeding station!! If you use the zoom here you can see him pretty good. Hard time loading pics today, the better shot is where it just says "attachment" and the other one loaded twice.
