...so I'm working in Bangor Maine for a while and find some time for detecting.

My dream comes true- I see this Church north of Bangor that was built in the late 1800's. It appears abandoned.

There is a maintenance worker there.

I get to chatting it up and he gives me permission to hunt. I'm thrilled.

He said it's not been hunted before as far as he knows and wishes me luck.

I hit this place hard, 3 hours- nothing but modern junk. I find a lot of lead, most of it not pictured. It was in flat pieces and scattered everywhere.

Just a few modern pennies, and the regular trash. Boy- was I ever disappointed.

I managed to find one kids ring, in the shape of a dog...

A Skunk would have been more fitting. I'm willing to bet this place was worked over pretty good in the past...

Oh well.

It's IPA time!

It might have been cherry picked,by all the junk you found there is some left. I hope you hit it again. Thanks for sharing

If it's an obvious site, most likely it's been detected by Bangor denizens prior to you, but if you can get the depth you'll hopefully still be able to find things others missed or couldn't find.

Well enjoy an IPA or two or ... Enjoying a few Stellas at the moment

I had a site that wasn't producing what it should have, being as old as it was. The property manager said it had never been hit so I was puzzled. I winded up making some good finds in time. Then one day the tree pruner stopped by and said he'd been hitting it for years. Permission? What permission?

I'm willing to bet there's some deep stuff bud.

Steve

ehh, it happens, ya see those sites that look like gold mines and they turn out to be not so hot

at least ya tried!

Hey, you gave it a swing.
Somewhere they likely had pic-nics.
A nearby grove of yore perhaps.

You were living the dream today, it's just that some sites that caught your eyes, have caught the eyes of others in the past. I would have hunted that spot to.:headbang:

I agree that site looks too good to be true!!!! Maybe little to much fill dirt over the years!!!
