why is having the ability to manually adjust your ground balance still important ?
well while more "modern" preset automatic ground balance machines are now the "popular machines" to have and use --there can be draw backs to them --in certain areas of high minerals or at the wet sand areas of the beach due to dissolved minerals these ---preset ground balance machines can be hard to impossible to use since you can not "adjust" for the mineral conditions there --( the only hope is to lower the sen level and up your discrimation level in hopes that it will stabilize the machine) -- however with a manually adjustible ground balance machine youo can adjust for the conditions.

the areas that are this bad mineral wize are somewhat rare but they are out there

That's what's nice about the Discovery 3300 Ivan. It has preset ground balance which is what I use 90% of the time. It also has the knob so you can ground balance it yourself. Best of both worlds.

there are time you really need to be adjustible* most times presets ok but------ :tard: theres times its not .

Hey Ivan,
Even with ground balance u will have trouble with most vlf md's in salt water.
be good

in salt water areas using "preset" vlf type machines --if they are unstable (beeping all the time / acting up) lowering the sen level and if needed slightly upping the disc level can often help out - although you do trade off some depth for doing so . doesn't always work but in many cases it can save your day.
