Went back to the park where I found the bracelet yesterday with D-dub. Day started slow with a few wheaties hear and there, and than D-dub found his Barber quarter that he posted. I knew at that point that there has to be more silver there......D-dub kept finding IH's and I started to get aggravated that I wasn't finding anything (not at him, but at my detector). I b**ch slapped my detector and told it that I wouldn't give it a bath today...D-dub thought that was funny, but my very next signal was the 1902-o Barber quarter.....you left one for me too Etrac(thanx). I kept telling D-dub that I would love to find an IH here, because most of them are in great shape. A few minutes later I got my first 1902 Greenie..(I think my detector got the point that i was ticked). A while went by and I got another signal that I had a feeling would be another IH....and it was another 1902. A few more odds and ends here, and then I had a deep quarter signal that I was sure would be another barber or slq, but to my surprise popped out this button. This button has 13 stars, and as you can see in the pics, it looks old as hell. I wish someone can ID it for me. I think this was my best find today. And finally before we were leaving, D-dub came up to me to offer me a cigar to end the hunt, while I was digging a plug....and out poped this real nice 925 silver ring with an aquamarine stone.

Gf is happy that she has another bling to go with her new bracelet, and the detector is happy its getting a bath....and I'll be happy once I find out something about this button.....maybe Benjamin Button might know something about it :laughing7:

P.S. It was nice meeting you guys at the park today Goio, McEtrac & TmanfromTexas. Maybe we can go hunt together sometime!

Awesome day today. Great follow up from yesterdays splended hunt for sure. I still can't believe you bitch slapped your detector and then 5 minutes later you pulled that Quarter out. :laughing9: I hope your giving it a bath?

I also found this earlier on your button. HBT Field Uniform WW II. Looks like they used them on miltary clothing during WW II. I also saw an auction on ebay for Vietnam fatigues that also used the 13 star tack buttons. So who know exactly how old it is. Still, a very cool button.

So, Where to next?

You met the ETrac masters! And dug sweet coinage! Nice day Jon, nicer digs!

Sweet finds, congrats!!!

All 1902's,,, what are the odds on that?? Great hunting! :headbang:

You know, I was thinking about that with his IHs but I didn't even think about the BQ. That is pretty wild.

As posted in Today's Finds...

The 13-stars button is classified by the U.S. Army Quartermaster Corps as, "Button, Tack, M-1941" and since 1941 has been used on various military clothing and fabric equipment closures.

They weren't sewn on— hence the "button, tack" description. Here's a link showing the button's construction:

I think next week we're going to hit that spot me and dan were telling you about when we went to prospect on Saturday after the hunt. Found a '12 wheatie off the bat, then got a call from the gf to pick her up from the mechanics, so off we went.

Indeed you did!

What a great hunt, Jon!!! Those coins are great and that button is cool, too!

I've been tempted to give my detector a bath in the river a few times - maybe I'll start slapping it around! ;D
