About a 4 1/2 hour dig today.

Think most from the 40's -50's; still have to check on
web. Will post individual bottles in bottle section when
I get more info.

Photos:
Darn good looking digger.
The dump.
The finds.

The finds:
-Farmers pitchfork.
-Mason inserts
-Red foil covers from milk.
-Green bottle on left: Raised embossing "G.F.R./
G. F. REIMERS/JOLIET, ILL/CONTENTS 6 1/2 FLUID OZ./
IMITATION FLAVOR & COLOR."
-(next to above) Raised embossing "HALF PINT LIQUID/
MARTI'S DAIRY/PURE MILK/MOKENA, ILL."
-Raised embossing "CASTORIA/C.H.FLETCHERS"
-Two no markings, the small one is really nice;

The large one has cork in bottle.
-Ink bottle not that old, no markings
-tin cup and cast iron grill of some type.
-group of small bottles, no markings.
-two blue bromos'

Had a good day in the woods.

Nice bottles, Sherm! I've looked at Wal-Mart at their entrenching tools since we don't have an army surplus store close by. Cheap looking, cheaply made, and not worth the money unless free. A friend just told me yesterday that he has one for me--a WWII German one that also has a pick on the other end of the shovel. We'll try and drive up and get it today and post a pic. of the pick. ;D

That is a nice collection of great bottles! I like the dark blue one on the far right. Vern

Hello,

Cool digger, Dump...? What dump I see a little hole, I dig holes bigger than that for pennies ;D Great finds, I would break all those bottles (I have no patience).

Keep @ it and HH!!

Gypsy,
"valuable collectors edition"
::)

Stoney,
Think I saw one of the German ones with a pick, on
one end, looked good.
Agree, any I've seen for sale at any retailer look and
feel like they might only last a day or so.
I've know guys that have used the G.I. shovels for
years with no problem and if you can find them they
are usually priced between $10 and $20.

Mud,

shot is just the start of a hole. Once I find one I follow
where the bottles go; left, right, up, down,
Hope those plugs your digging are for big pennies ;D

all have a good un.....

awesome finds sherm!! looks like the little trowel from ACE is still going strong, I have one just like it, its a good strong tool to use and it cuts a good plug

Congrats

HH
