Yes, it's true. The Deus still sucks. Silver this time. Went with a friend to several sites, two of which were probably virgin, the others, not so much. One site was not really detectable due to tall grass in the pasture. Second site was overrun with sticker bushes. Third site had some decent ground, and first target was a nice 1957 Roosevelt Dime. Turned up a toasted 1919 Lincoln Cent soon after. Then it got real slow.

Moved to a different site and on the side of a small hill found a Civil War Burnside carbine bullet, like why was it there, (?), some clad, and the surprise of the month, a sterling silver butter knife. The knife has the name "Gary" engraved on it. Somebody should tell him I found his butter knife. It was made by American Silver maker Gorham. Looks like about 1892. Thing was only about 3-4 inches deep and I thought I had another aluminum treasure. Talk about surprised! The figure on the front looks like either a knight holding a crown or a lady holding a crown. Can anyone out there date it better for me?

The two buttons were from earlier this week. From different sites. Can't seem to find any concentration of relics, that would be beyond awesome, but not reality.View attachment IMG_0205.jpgView attachment IMG_0206.jpgView attachment IMG_0211.jpg sp1.jpgsp2.jpgsp3.jpgsp4.jpg Poor Deus. It's having nap time right now. And I got two CW period horseshoes also.View attachment IMG_0212.jpg

I think its a lady or servant holding a tray as in a "tea service" tray that held cups, tea pot, creamer, sugar etc.

Talk about a wild batch of stuff for 1 long, long day. Never did get to the park I had planned on down in the city at the beginning of the day. The CW buttons were basically out of place. Shouldn't have been around here, especially the "I". Confederate cavalry was nearby twice during the war in 1863 and 1864, also could have been a souvenir brought home by a Yank. I'll never know. And yes, we did dig a bunch of junk, especially precious aluminum. Found several old style zinc Mason jar lids too. Boy, they ring out nice!

I think I pegged the knife. Gorham Medici, old pattern, ca 1880. Amazing it came out of the ground in 1 piece.

Awesome hunt
