The "Crossroads Site' gives up first Coppers.....
This site has been one that I have been get wanting to detect for years......So i finally decided to get permission from the land owners and it was a twist of fate....yahoo. The land is divided in to 3 sections by 3 different owners. I stopped to ask permission and after a short conversation and the exchange of some girl scout cookies we had permission to detecting her property. With a twist of fate a woman showed up to visit and would you know she was the owner of all the property at the Crossroads. Time to get more cookies and as I got to know the two wonderful woman with simple comversation they said.....well go ahead and detect, we dont want to waste your time snow might be coming.....Not today, sunny and in the upper 40s.......
As Cheryl and i started detecting we found a few items here and there....the map dates back to 1850 the site itself dated to the early 1800s....so finding large coppers and maybe some early silver is the plan....Soon after finding some buttons and musket balls out popped the copper and then another within 8 feet of each other ......
With no snow and the ground no where near being froze, the digging could not be better.....As you can see in the pics there is plenty of area to dig the pioneer cabins are gone, nothing is there but corn and grass fields..... The owners said we can come back anytime!!
The early buckles are an added bonus ......
All in all this was a great day to start at a new site .......Enjoy! Keep on Digging!
