The crop is up !!!

Well the crop is now coming up on the Viking brooch field. Thought I would have another go on the field where the house used to be. And would you believe it up comes a crop (sorry couldn't resist it). I think it may be the handle of a riding crop. It's probably 18th/19th Century. Should clean up well.

Cheers, here's a picture of it cleaned. It would have been gold gilded, there's small bits of gilding still on.

Oh...Must be a pretty late spring crop. Our barley is starting to brown off.
