I went back to the club for a few hour today. I ended up with 74 coins for $4.05. I was working an area away from the civil war battle on the other side of the hill. The area is cleared and used for a picnic, camping, party area with some volley ball courts.
The first goody I found was a Minnie ball that looks like a drop. There are a few digs on one side, but they look like they may have been made by heavy machinery when the ground was cleared.
I also found a 1947 Roosevelt dime and a 1940 Mercury dime.
A rather different squashed ring was another find. I have never seen one like it. It is a flexible aluminum adjustable ring with a 1997 penny in it. I did straighten it out to see what it was like before it was smashed.
A religious medal finish up the interesting finds of the day. On the back in raised letters it says I AM A LUTHERAN. Above that is engraved the word SCOTT and at the bottom it says ST. LUKE’S JR. (it is in the first picture on the right side)
All and all a good day. There is a lot more ground to cover and I haven’t ventured off of the cleared and mowed areas yet. There is a small wooded area that might have some civil war goodies. I will check back in when I have more goodies to see.
Thanks for looking and may your coil pass over good things.
