The biggest mystery of today's find

The park is found this at was a army fort during the Civil then it became a mentel hospital during the 1920s up until the 1960s the patients had a farm around where I dug this up at this iron weights about 2 pounds 20160603_180059.jpg20160603_180110.jpg

I don't even know the true size of an Ice Breakers container?. Can you list some measurements, inches, millimeters?? and describe a little detail like the front is the same as the back or not? Just a rusty rectangle piece of iron with possibly two holes in it, is all that comes to mind for me right now. Did you actually weigh it on a scale or are you guessing it weighs about two pounds?

I would say with the two holes opposite each other, your item looks like an old door latch catch.

Is that metal thick? I see some kind of patterns on it. I can enlarge your pictures for some reason
