Well finally went into the wood, I was glad to find a few fairly clear areas free from brambles and stinging nettles. Detected for about two hours digging mainly used shot gun cartridge ends. The insects and cobwebs strung between the branches were making me itch like mad. Had one find of note amongst the junk and odd corroded pre decimal coppers, a small silver spoon. Not sure of the date maybe Victorian. Staggered out of the woods and had 30 mins on the cleared edge of a cropped field. Found a small late Roman coin in the usual poor condition, think I will leave the wood alone too much like hard work.
