The Barley's in & the fun has begun.....

The Saxon Sceat Field was harvested today, we were on one side & the combine on the other. So there are still strips of straw every 5 runs which we will do another time.

Cru'dad is still out of action but helps in GPSing, so it was just me for 3.5 hours:

21 Roman Bronze coins
2 Roman Lead Weights
Nice Roman Brooch :)
Possible Roman Lead document Seal
Military Roman Dolphin Buckle (only my second fragment ever) :)

Tomorrow should be better, I'm hoping for a Roman Silver & a nice artifact :wink:

Sadly not, its a copper core with silver plating, Georgian whatzit :icon_scratch:

Thanks guys.

This is a pretty exciting field. We are privileged to be the first to detect it & plot the coins before others have taken them. It will give us great data off a Virgin site. Its a very late roman settlement, came into its own in the middle 4th century & may have continued into the Saxon period, which is rare.

Not a lot of rubbish & very few iron nails (so far), which puzzels me as the Arkies found no stone structures so it must have been wooden. This means we are finding mostly scrap lead (my fav indicator), & roman coins. So theres a real buzz about every dig :icon_thumright:

PS-I sure hope Cru'dad gets to feeling better. I too have bad knees and when they give trouble I rub them down with Castor oil and wrap a hot towel around them. Castor oil is a wonderful discovery.

Thanks for your continued support. We found two virgin Roman Sites last year & can't wait to hit those as well. This 3rd one is a bonus & just happened to be the first field harvested in our area. Luck has been with us all year & we are building to a fantastic end to 2009. I keep saying, 'this year will be hard to beat', but then the next year we kick ar*se :thumbsup:

It's great. You won't see any improvement with the first treatment but after a week you will. I had arthritis in my thumb until I used it and have not had any pain in months. I only treated my thumb for a week. And if you're not feeling up to par, just drink some. :tongue3: It will lube every crack and crevice. :D
