Just picked up one of these and while Ive read a lot coinhunting and jewelry success stories but havent seen much on their relic capability. Id love to hear some feedback on this. My last relic machine was a Whites 5900 Pro SL and it was a bullet, buckle, and button monster that I let my buddy talk me out of. Ive hunted 25yrs on and off. What say you relic buffs? Thanks, Rick.

My wife has an ACE 250 & doesn't have any trouble finds relics, fur trade, old copper culture, early settlers, you name it, she's found it, the ACE is a pretty nice machine, she is still learning the sensitivity part of it!

If the target is there, it should "BEEP" and as is the case for other machines, if you want more depth, order the large coil.

First time for me too John. I have seen the SEF Butterfly DD coil for the Ace though. I believe it is about $250.00 But looks like this one is selling for around what the other brands coils sell for. We're just used to the Garrett coil prices. I wonder what it weighs?

That's the first time I have seen that after market coil. I wonder if anyone reading this forum has used one? And yes....it is kind of pricey. :)

It's brand new. It was just posted on KellyCo's MySpace yesterday... and she said that there hasn't been any feedback, because it's such a new coil. The price definitely isn't attractive...

My buddy uses the stock coil on the Ace 250--and he knows the machine like the back of his hand.  I was surprised that he could hear most of the bullets that I could hear on my Fisher 1266.  The one exception were the very deep ones.

I was pretty impressed with the machine, but I'd have a tough time coughing up enough money to have bought another detector for a "better searchcoil" for the Ace (which will probably not get you that much additional depth anyhow).

Best Wishes,

I'm not a big relic hunter. But it will find bullets and buttons, with no problem. I use the big coil all the time. It makes it a much better detector. With the big coil, I'll put it up against any detector. I might consider the new Excelerator coil. Even though it's supposed to be an entry level detector, like any other detector it takes a lot of time to learn it well. It takes time to learn what it's telling you.

Hey Buckleboy Ky here too....western that is. But like you I wouldnt spring for a coil worth more than the detector. Ill have it in a few days then if this cold snap leaves we will see what its got.

Honestly I don't think the price is that bad if it has the kind of results that other EXcelerator coils have had. I need some field test reports on it *badly* because everyone wants to know how it performs. I actually posted a forum topic on it yesterday but no one responded... :(

Anyway, the ACE 250 is a VERY capable machine, and I think it's common knowledge that EXcelerator coils are phenomenal - especially when it comes to relics. I'm freakin' dying to hear how it performs!!! :tongue3:

I have found quite a few buttons with my ace 250, older military but not exactly sure how old.I have also found older victorian style buttons.

This link is one I posted last year. I don't have any actual civil war relics but these are about the same age. I found all of this with an ACE250 and the stock coil. I am not lucky enough to live where there was a lot of Civil war activity but I have pulled .22 bullets from at least 6 inches and maybe even a little deeper. If I get to take a trip down south this year I plan to see just how good it will do for CW relics. I don't think I will have any problems find targets to dig with the 250.

relics 9 x 12 coil --all metal mode or relic mode -- as much sen bars as you can run without getting unstable -( I seldom run "full blast"--- 5 bars normally--depending on the soil )- while its not as deep as some high dollar jobs ( and a volkswagon ain't a jaguar either)-- it works well for the price --hard to get better preformance in its general price range. ---280 with the sniper coil bonus --- 300 with the 9 x 12 coil bonus

I recently purchased a 15x12 s.e.f. butterfly search coil for my ace 250. It was just under $300 and I had to order it from the UK but it only took about 2 weeks to get it. I love it for the most part, I'm finding silver, tons of clad coins and tons of other relics in spots I've gone over 100 times before with the stock coil. It definitely gives me much more depth but sometimes not that much more is needed. I'm finding silver about 2 inches deeper then the stock would detect. The one bad thing about the new coil is that it is pretty heavy and takes a toll on my wrist. I never use the arm strap on my detector but that might help a bit. I'm going to keep using it until my luck runs out or my wrist breaks LOL
I still can't figure out why Kelly co doesn't have these here yet, they have them for some of the other brands like White's and Minelab. I figure with the amount of people that own an ace 250 they would make a killing.......oh well
If anyone else has one I would love to know what you think of it.
