Yesterday the team met with the Land-owner & 2 Archies to discuss our initial findings & a way forward. It was a good meeting with many of my conclusions fitting the Archies research. They showed us pictures of a dig in the '70s where many whole Roman Pots were dug out of a burial site. It's somewhere on the farm but no records were kept. (Done by amateurs) We will try & help find it.
The main focus is the Abbey & they showed us their Geophysics results, very interesting.
We proved that where they previously thought the medieval village was, is actually a Roman Settlement. Whilst field walking they had found a Kiln Bar as well, so our GPSed 9 examples proves there was light industry next to the homestead.
Most of the stuff has gone with 2 people detecting for 12 years, but they left us enough....

21 Roman Coins
Some of the largest Roman Nails we have found!
Kiln Bars
Medieval Swivel piece
Medieval Buckle
Saxon Mount circa 6th C
Medieval Dagger Chape
Roman Nail Cleaner
1943 Sixpence
Ed I Penny
Ed III Penny
Ed IV Penny
Henry VIII Halfpenny
2 Tiny Lead Tokens with Cross & Pellet - These along with 5 others that the land-owner has are very unusual & must be connected to the Abbey in some way - use unknown!
Silver Ring Bezel - Believed to be Medieval, awaiting the FLO's judgement as potential treasure! UPDATE: - FLO thinks it might be a Roman Period Ring!
Not bad for 2 days - 11.5 hours

PS. Think the Ring has the letter 'N' denoting the first letter of the Monk that wore it - Nando 'the Monk'.

Cru,

Nice mix of finds...like the ring piece very special find.

Highly interesting. Thanks for sharing!

Buckles, buttons, coins, and maybe some nails.
Those things I can identify, the rest of that treasure, , I would be lost.
Congratulations

Sounds like a once in a life time opportunity? Hope not. Looks like an awesome way to spend a day. Nice work!

Cru....wow, speechless! AMAZING finds. I see countless rings on this site every day, and for some reason, that silver ring sent chills down my spine! Oh the history...who made it, who wore it, under what circumstances was it lost? Thx very much...ddf

Wow, Cru. Just--WOW!! The project is fascinating, and so are your finds! Congrats! -Lisa & John

Speechless, I'm moving to England! Congratualtions! :notworthy:

Sure hope you find the artifacts and coins you seek! Good Luck.

Very nice selection of finds Cru. As you Said in another post, beyond luck it's very difficult to produce daily. It takes years. I look forward to many of your next finds bud

With the contacts that Land-Mag helps build up, this Project could be the tip of an ice berg. Like I say in other posts our reputation precedes us, which is the key to our success. This Land-Owner only wants people who WILL show EVERYTHING they find. Getting instant trust like that takes years.

Roughly speaking it was lost on the main track-way into the Abbey Site.
As its silver with a monogram its upper-middle status or higher. I joked about the Monk, but its unlikely to be a Monk, more like a visiting Merchant.

Roman Coins added to top.

UPDATE;
FLO thinks the Ring maybe Roman. I was always unsure as it's not a type I have seen before & I thought the letter looked Medieval?? We will have to wait for the BM's Report!
