Thas alot of Silver!

I was over at my grandmother's house the other day and she was going through some things in her attic. I was sitting there and talking with her and helping her in any way that I could when she come across this object. She said that her great Grandfather had given it to her grandmother as a wedding gift. And now she wanted to give it to me! I was like WOW OKAY (NO arguments here) It is pure silver and is sooo very beautiful in a lit room. I cleaned it up okay, but there still is alittle tarnish in the following pics.

That is beautiful, dose it have a hallmark on the bottom. I like sterling and I have seen these things on ebay for like $5-$10k. I am sure you won't sell, but I want you to know a price so maybe you can insure it.

I'm not sure if it has a hallmark on the bottom or not. I will check when I get home from work.

your Grandma is awesome... !!! For your gift to be silver it has to have hallmarks an 925/950 or sterling silver on it.... also should have the makers mark or name on it...... sometime they are on the sides but most of the time there on the bottom....

Also 90% of the time candle holders are weighted with some sort of filler like resin or cement... Check the bottom to see if it has the words weighted or soild sterling on it....
