Well, I had a great Thanksgiving and hope you all did the same. I had about three hours to spare Thanksgiving morning so I met up at the convenience spot- the camp. I met up with Kermit and Mike. I was in speed-swinging mode due to time restraints. I headed out into the field for some nickel-hunting, and pulled out the 1957 and the 1943 silver. Kermit found a buffalo not too far from me. I'd really like to extend my sincerest appreciation for whoever buried the shiny zinc pennies down about 8-9 inches in the field. No explanation can express the feeling I had when I got that zinc cent signal at 9 inches, dug a plug in unusually-soft dirt, expected to find an Indian, but instead found a lovingly-placed 2005 penny sans crust. It was just...great.

Today, I headed over to Watercolor's spot for some woods digging, and saw that Kermit was there already. A little later, we were joined yet again by Mikewaz. Let me tell you, it was some hard digging today. Finds were far and few in between, but we all got some oldies. Mike had the best day, I'd say, especially in regards to the silver he pocketed. I also gained a new appreciation for his hunting skill. First, he dug an early Merc I had walked right over a minute or two earlier, and then I watched him extract another merc from six inches out of that trashy field, the same field that I can't even find a clad dime in! Kermit came through too, although he nearly left Lescheless.

Watercolor showed up toward the tail-end of our hunt and it was great seeing him. I'm probably out of commision this weekend, got too many things going on, so I'll have to rely on you guys to post your finds (Kermit! Get your seated half out of Goio Park!).

Wheats are: 1918, 24, 34, 4?, 41, 41, 44, 57, 58. Also dug the 1903 IH at Watercolor's spot.

Take care guys.............Joe

Sweet IH ,

It was great seeing you guys again! I'm glad to see some older-than-clad
coinage starting to surface from that site. I have a feeling there's a few
"hot spots" in that area but just haven't pinned them down. . . yet

Take care,
watercolor

Glad you finally found your Indian Joe, and it's in such nice shape to boot.

I had a great time today, and you're right , we sure had to work for what we got. I think we burned off the turkey, dressing, potatoes and cranberries from Thanksgiving dinner.

Finally got the chance to meet Watercolor out there. What a nice, down to earth guy. I got the feeling I'm gonna have to get out somewhere tomorrow with this nice weather were having, even though I'm pretty much shot for the rest of the night.

I see the couch, remote control, and an ice cold MGD in my immediate future. ;D

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!
Mike

PS. Kermit, I hope you hit your silver goal on Sunday. Try to get a little sleep in before then.

Great hunt guys!!!! Im glad we all walked away with some older coins!!!!

Congrats on your first IH, I knew you would snag one of them soon!!!

Congratulations on the IH Joe! I know you mentioned you were trying to find some older coins. Seems like those silver war nickels can't escape you!

Hey Twistedd, your welcome about the pennies. When i was there last time with the group, I would put one in each hole I dug. I figured I wouldnt be back so I knew I wouldnt have to redig them. LMAO!!!! Just kiddin... I hate zincolns. I dug quite a few at GOIO's park the last time we went and I swear they were at least that deep. I hope the weather is nice next weekend. I am ready to swing my coil. I have found a few spots around my home in Texas I will have to check out when I come home for Christmas. I will definitely be bringing my etrac and my cz3d just in case my wife wants to go huntin. TMAN...

Sweet finds Joe! You are really rockin' on the wheaties out there. Very nice IH too! That's pretty crappy if someone is constantly planting coins, hopefully it was just a one-time joke. Yeah I know, real funny.

We have ran across a few coins that were deliberatly put deep. Like the 6 zinclincols in 1 hole down like 6 inches with one of the coins being a 2004, and I found a state quarter down about 8 inches, and I know Joe found another deep penny a few months ago. LOL - Somebody is having some fun... :tard:
