I want to thank you all for encouraging, inspiring, teaching and advising me over the last two years. It has helped me to provide a service that I would never have volunteered for before. I took 840 pics of our event, deleted only two, and posted 767 to their FB page. That's 91% of semi decent postable pics. That's just mind boggling to me and I could never have done it without you! You are all awesome!

DSCN0262.webp We had 104 Wounded Heroes at the event this year. (Note: I need to learn how to use the "easy panoramic" function. Practice, practice, practice.)

DSCN0112.webp One of our oldest veterans enjoying some fresh caught fried walleye and perch.

DSCN0597.webp The MIA POW Table that is set up all weekend. While we serve those who sacrificed so much for us, we remember those whose sacrificed all. I caught this veteran up-righting the flag which the wind had knocked over.

DSCN0693.webp Team Fastrax Jump. There are normally two skydivers. One of the teammates was killed the day before in Hawaii.

DSCN0695.webp

DSCN0719.webp

DSCN0754.webp Brothers in Arms

DSCN0822.webp Presentation of the Flag to one of the Gold Star family members.

Again, I can not thank you enough. I will be posting more pics on the Random Chat Thread and on blak bart's Fish Pic Thread.

Truly indebted to you all!

Oh, yes sir, yes sir! Especially all the safety tips like waiting until I am safely back home before I post any pics. Here’s a pic of the setting sun shining on a cloud over...uhh...umm... uh...somewhere in Indiana last night.

Thanks, glass half full. You all have helped me to step out of my comfort zone and be more of a contributor.

Wrightdigger On another thread you mention a Pheasants Forever chapter in your area .I have volunteered for a local chapter for more than 25 years . It was a learning experience as you said ."It helped me step out of my comfort zone and be more of a contributor" Our chapter has been involved in several events focused on Veterans over the years and the rewards are worth the effort many times over

That's pretty cool! So, you take them out hunting? The rewards are awesome! We have been blessed to see, and even help, a few of the struggling, and they have turned their lives around.

When we first bought the farm land, we would come across a couple pheasants. Always scared the beejeebies out of me. We haven't seen any for several years now. Last year we created some grass areas to help stop erosion, so maybe they will come back. We have acquired a turkey since we did that. I don't know if it is a coincidence or not.

Yes taking them out hunting is one of the things we have done .We get usually four veterans together and take them to a regulated hunting grounds .We arrange to have someone with a hunting dog come out to help with the hunt We provide coffee and donuts etc and we spend 4 to 5 hours hunting with them .A few years ago one of the veterans attending the hunt that year said "it was the first time anyone had done anything in reconigition of his service in Vietnam However that is just one thing we did .There is a local group in the area that helps veterans that where wounded and have wounds that affect their mobility This group helps wounded veterans to purchase motorized tracked wheelchairs so they can still get outdoors .Our group made a few donations to that group to help with acquiring a few of the motorized chairs .And a group of local sportman's club host a Sporting clays shoot .It is open to any preregistered veteran free of charge .A lunch and supper is supplied Our group has made donations towards that over the last several years also .Getting to know some of our countries veterans can be a very humbling experience .But it is a chance to meet some great citizens of our country

I am glad you are filled with that passion to volunteer for our veterans. They need to know that their service is greatly appreciated. It is very humbling, that is so true!

I got a message from the wounded hero/volunteer that I was paired up with to get the fish pics. He is going to Alaska in August with the KY Wounded Heroes. He went out and bought himself a Canon EOS 80D. He was so excited! He said he can't wait to show me what all it does the next time he sees me. LOL! This photography is contagious!

Thats some gret pics and great post
