ok so these first 3 days with my 350 have been frustrating to say the least.yeah on my first hour of my first day i did find a sterling silver ring, but it was a aggravating after that. Jumpy signals, ghost signals, and the final straw was when my bounty hunter found a quarter at 4 inches and my ace kinda struggled with it. so on the phone with garrett i was and the tech support guy informed me of highly mineralized soil in my area?? never heard of such a thing. I struggled with the thought of turning my sensitivity down to nearly half because of the potential of losing depth (the whole reason i bought the ace) but i did it anyway. I had an hour of daylight left so i headed to my brothers house circa 1920s. right away i was hitting clad pennies (late 60s). my brother informed me of an old exit door near the side of his house that was covered in siding. I imagined the people in the early days who used it and headed from that area towards the street. Within a few feet i hit a wheatie (1948) and i told my son, this has got to be it, if theres a 48 wheat in here we SHOULD be able to hit silver. low and behold 3" away from the wheat pops out OUR FIRST SILVER COIN!!:headbang::headbang::headbang: a 1943 mercury dime, yeah i know guys its only a dime but this is literally the reason i popped on a more expensive detector!! I thought i broke my sons hand i slapped it five so hard lol. Feels great to finally hit silver and you better believe i will be hitting that again even if i have to re sod his entire yard. Thanks for reading my first novel and HH SAM_2300.JPGSAM_2301.JPGSAM_2302.JPG I cant believe how good of shape that merc is in

That's awesome man! I have an old school Garrett Ace 100 and I found a 1943 quarter and a 1959 dime a couple of days ago...dying to find a merc dime though. That Merc dime is pretty sweet!

You will always remember your first Merc! Mount it on a plaque and put it up on the wall! The winged liberty never gets old after finding one or a hundred! Nice! ...Cheers...:occasion14:

thanks guys, never in a million years would i have thought a freakin dime would get me so psyched. I enjoyed detecting before this, now im addicted.

You did it! Very nice indeed. A little patience and knowledge goes far...you stuck it out and followed through! Excellent find. Now I need to get out of my silver slump. Been about 5 months since my silver find, although it was two... a 1912 and 1914 barber. That should hold me over a little longer but not long. :laughing7:

Nice job!
It's tough out there with any detector.
Nice work!

The mercury to me is the most exquisite and detailed coin America made in my opinion. I love finding them.
Congratulations sir on a nice find.

Whats great about Merc's or any other silver or that of gold. It never breaks down in minerals from ground...Nice finds... Can you say test garden?

last night when i left my brother told me hes peeling off about a foot and a half off his yard to make way for a driveway right where i found the merc, i said youve got a helper as long as i can swipe it first lol
