This was a comment I said yesterday on another post "That is awesome!!! I spent 5 hours at a park today and got one wheat. I was saying to myself the only way I'm going to "look" for gold rings is in a jewelry parking lot I'd have a better chance it seems like. I've found 4 gold rings in 3 years and it was all by luck except 1."

Well I'm glad I'm stubborn or obsessive whatever which way you want to look at it I went out again and I did it. 14kp gold ring FINALLY!!!! It's been awhile. I will admit though old going tomorrow my thing old silver coins are better, but I guess that gold coin would be at the top. I do obcess for a men's college/high school ring. Well one day. Hooray for you.

Beauty Truth, Congrats on that Gold ring! Looks like the ratio of trash to Gold was maybe 50:1. That's some good odds I'd say!

Congrats on the gold ring, it takes a lot of trash digging to get the goodies. Good for you

the gold is expensive, unfortunately, for what it can cost us in man hours, we don't get what it is worth to us. But, we can truly appreciate the value of the recovered gold ring. Persistence does pay off as it obviously did for you. My congrats to you Sir in the wonderful ring find. I'd call it awesome too! :headbang:

Dirt it's been haunting me for the last seven months and just in the last month I've been being more aware of finding one. I probably averaged around 13 cents per hour hard labor. We're nuts lol

Nice snag on that ring! I think we all have to be stubborn, and nuts, to get the good stuff in this hobby.

You differently need drive I'll tell you that. You know being born in New Orleans was bad for my health, the city that sobriety he forgot about. I had a high paying job, addicted to money, Porsches, high stakes gambling and everything that comes with it if you know what I mean? I've been sober and clean with no gambling for 14 years. I lived a very fast life I have a very addictive personality and never had time for a real hobby in my life. I picked up my first metal detector 3 years ago and never looked back. And I must say it's the closest thing to the high I got from gambling without losing money. The beeps are like slot machines and any old is jackpots. I never clean my coins in the ffield I'll wait till I get home so I can scratch off the dirt with a toothpick and it feels like I'm playing scratch offs. Lol I MD just like I did my gambling, very very often. My life is changed, material things doesn't matter anymore and this hobby has added much happiness in my life. I no longer work 80 hours a week I work 20 hours a week ( After Katrina I started living simple and more humble) The rest I metal detect....practically every day. God, Family (Wife is my best find) and Metal Detecting. Life is good

I have found many gold rings with the AT That is a great ring. Ive found that pop tops the VDI will vary by 5 or more numbers gold will not vary more than 2 to 3 you will still dig foil but not as many pop tops I hope that helps out .

Truth...wow, did you ever hit the nail on the head...im 7+ years in myself...going a million miles an hour but going backwards...im sure you know what I mean. My wife can sense the train going off the tracks, and she'll usually pat me on the butt on the way out the door to my fave soccer field...God lov'er! Being gone all day Sat and all day Sun detecting doesn't bother her, she knows I'll come back whistling zippity-doo-dah out my bung hole whether I found anything good or not. So congrats to every one of the days in the 14 years you've put behind you clean. Haven't been to a meeting for a while due to work but your post set me straight...thx for sharing..Ddf

Nice Ring!

I also like your quote "I'm a greater believer in luck, and I find the harder I work the more I have of it” ― Thomas Jefferson" very fitting for the experience.

Same here the wife can literally lay in bed all weekend and she deserves the rest. My mind races way to much and I don't require much sleep so she's more than happy you yell, "Good Luck!!" as I'm out the door. Lol
