I found an interesting old button and would like info on it.
Any body with an idea?
Front is brass back is heavy badly rusted metal and looks like it was a post in center of back.

That type of button-back, which had a stud instead of a wire loop or other provision for sewing the button onto cloth, is called a "river-button." That type is typically used on work-clothes such as overalls, and on denim (blue-jean) jackets and pants. The earliest rivet-buttons date from about the 1880s. The particular style you found is probably from the first half of the 20th Century.
