Texas state seal button

I'm trying to find more info on this button. Found it this morning. I know the area was occupied during the early 1800's. And i believe the button is pre-civil war. But that's about all i know about it. Sorry for the bad pic but thats about the best i can do with this cheap camera. The button has a star in the middle with Texas around it. It has the word "waterbury" on the back but i can't make out the rest. It still has some dirt encrusted on it and i'm not sure how to clean it.

I've been trying to get better pics with this camera but no luck. I'll find someone with a better camera and get some better ones. BTW i just read the post below by lostlake88 and buckleboy. It answered my question about cleaning.LOL

Take it outside in natural light and use the macro setting , the flower symbol , and experiment with the zoom .

Can't wait to see a better photo. Use the macro setting on the camera if it has one (flower icon), and make sure there is plenty of sunlight.

Yes,we really need a better pic.Here is one that is most likely what your looks similar to.This one has a
rare backmark on it and is for sale for $6000.I have see several ones almost like this that is post CW
and sells for around $15 to $30.

In order to determine if your button is pre,CW or post (modern) you will have to determine what
the backmark is.Waterbury still makes buttons today.
