Hey everyone the computer has been down the last couple of days and I just got around to checkin in here and wanted too post one of the goodies I found this weekend. Long story but the short version is I got a tip from a guy I know about an an old Wagon trail and remote stage stop site that later was a ranger station and at the end of its day was a border patrol station. He gave me a rough idea of its location and after three full days of searching I think I found it complete with old corral, foundation and cellar hole. Initial eyeball search revealed some old broken medicines and on an early recon I found part of an old wagon wheel down the trail from the site. Found the area Sunday evening and after swinging all day looking for it my arm was about to fall off. I was scanning a little longer lots of iron trash everywhere all of a sudden got a nice smooth signal VDI 70 on the DFX. Dug a small Badge at about three inches all I could see at first was the star through the mud, anyway the adrenaline was rushing and suddenly I realized.. that I had found a 1925 Texas Registered Chauffeur Badge. My First Yeehaww! Cant wait to go back.

Awesome find Dave!! Chauffeur Badges are very cool relics! I have never seen one from Texas. That has to be a scarce relic.

;)

Nice find! It lists for $65 in the most recent (1994) edition of Connors' Price Guide to American & Canadian Chauffeur Badges, but is bound to be worth more today. No record available of the number of Texas 1925 badges issued, but the highest reported badge number is 13322.

Thanks everyone and a special thanks to you PBK for the link and info I hadnt looked into it much as of yet. Looking fwd to going back out their with my buddy Rich and my wife. Will keep you all posted.

I did an ebay search and found one there as well with a high registration number. I think Daves is good with the earlier number. But the cool thing about this relic is that Dave discovered the lead to this spot by talking to the right folks. Then he got more info on the site. He then spent days in Texas Brush country looking for the site. He managed to find the site and use his detecting abilities to dig this neat relic. That's what it's all about! ;D
Awesome job Dave (and Vicky) ;)
