Got out for a short hunt this afternoon in Baltimore. I'd picked out three test areas to search; these are spots I've never detected in this old city park. The first yielded nothing old. The second gave me a reproducible high-tone, low '90s VDI, which turned out to be an Atlantic City, NJ Centennial Commemorative coin from 1954. The third location gave me the "no-date" SLQ "S" mint, followed by two wheats in the same hole. I wrapped up the day by going back to an area I've pulled older targets and recovered a child's ring, probably had plating over a copper base. Next time out I will be back to the site that yielded the SLQ and wheats for a more thorough search. HH y'all!

Thanks. The Absecon lighthouse is shown on one side. It's construction was begun 1854 and completed 1857.

I live just over the bridge from atlantic city, it's a great little city with so much history but it's really a shame what the casinos have done to the place...but that's a conversation for another time and place lol

Great finds & a great day MD ing - I like the 1954 commemorative coin & thanks for sharing the pictures with us. Wish you many more while out dirt fishing.

It sure is nice to have a few options to hunt in a days time. Good job

Thanks Texas Ed. Plan to get back there this week. More to come. HH!

Agreed! I plan to head back to two of the sites I tested: the one that produced the token and the location of the quarter and wheats.
Happy Hunting, texjim!

Thanks, Scruggs. Here's to more SLQs....a rare find for me, indeed.

Wonderful finds from a grand ole town. Can you imagine what must be covered up downtown? :dontknow:

Absolutely! Until I cleaned it a bit I wasn't sure what I had....of course my thoughts went immediately to "old copper"....ha ha!

Looks like the SLQ spot will hold a lot more treasures for you.. Nice Save..:icon_thumleft:

Congrats on your location options and your finds.
SLQ's are not all that common. You have a few productive spots.

Thanks, ATW. The quarter and pennies came from a hillside. When I walked it on Sunay afternoon, I noticed the stump of a huge tree and figured people have been around it for years. I hope to get back there on Thursday.

Thanks OBN. Looks like you're doin' well with gold and silver on 2016. Impressive!

Thanks Whadifind. I have had the same thoughts as I drive through the city. Makes curb strips look even more inviting.
Is the curb strip by a city park part of the park?
