Hey hey diggers!
So I found this medal the other day and it pretty much makes sense except it has something I cant seem to find anything on.
The Lord's Prayer on the front is straightforward enough...its a familiar theme of religious pendants and medals.
The other side is where I need more info. It has Faith Hope and Charity which is another religious theme that is familiar. But under that it has Prison Welfare...now I'm kind of lost.
Anyone know this medal?
I looked around at vintage medals and found no connection to that phrase.
22mm wide and 32mm top to bottom copper alloy body with silver plating and found at a site dating to 1900 give or take
I'm not sure if there was a religious movement towards prison reform at any time but it seems like it was something medals were created for.
Any info is appreciated as always
