I spent probably 3 hours walking about 75-100 yards of this creek below my field that I have found some nice finds. As you can see there is plenty of erosion of the banks and water was not to bad, but there is alot of algei and mud on the rocks in the calmer water. I just dont understand why I cant spot any points, I did find a broke hoe or digger the bottom part anyway but that was it. As I was leaving my farmer friend came down and told me about how he was going to do some more dozing across the creek high on a hill, he said that he thinks thats where a big encampment is, he said when he was younger and hunted that he and his family found alot of artifacts up there. Cant wait, he's going to push about 20 acres of trees and brush to make a hay field... Also told me I could get back in the field I found all my other finds last month, the beans he planted have popped out and I can see the rows now. I had about a half hour so I went to a spot where there was some large rocks alot of chips and shell fragments and its where I found that nice etley I found a couple weeks ago. I started finding some brokes and a pretty nice scraper when I picked up this funny looking stone. It is very heavy for its size, like twice as heavy as a stone its size. It is very smooth and it looks to me like it was ground down to its shape, if anyone has a idea what it is please let me know. Thanks for looking..... JYD.
more pictures, sorry they got mixed up in sequence.

The hematite pieces are really cool, Junkyard Dog. I just googled "red ochre" and found all kinds of articles about how the Indians used it for paint and mortuary purposes :read2:.
And I think the Indians ground it up and painted their bodies with it to help keep the bugs off.
Nice finds :icon_thumright:!!

JUNKYARD DOG, I bet your heart about stopped when you spotted the base of that arrowhead (in situ) .
it sucks that when you find something they are broke( trust me I know :D ) but it's still cool to find something like that!

Good finds Keep it up !
