I haven't had but about a half hour with it yet but if the depths i was reading are anywhere close, i can see what all the hoopla is about. I was reading coins in my driveway at 5 to 9 inches and the gravel is so hard i couldn't dig them. i did dig the one that read 2 inches...a dime. I will be out tomorrow at lunch checking this baby out.

Congrats on the new machine TN. Let us know how you like it and if the machine is easy to use. I am also curious about the effects of electrical interference I have been hearing about. I think that alone turned alot of people away from the machine. Alot of us guys that were interested in the T2 hunt city parks, schools and houses. From what my freinds and I understand its not a user freindly city machine becuase of all the power line and power sources. Sure like to know how touchy it really is for city hunting.

hey tinkb,

I went out today at lunch to a house built @ 1940 or so. I have found quite a bit with my Time Ranger but it has bee slim pickings for a couple of weeks. Today i found a 1952 wheat in the front yard at 5 inches where i have checked thoroughly at least 4 times. After work i went to an old farm on a hill that the house has been long gone and i have only found 1 belt buckle in the past. I found another belt buckle, a gold plated pocket watch ( damaged: hit by a bush hog or something) a brass or copper shut off valve of some type. I was a little worried about the chatter myself but the info i got on another forum gave me hope that it would work and today while at the old house i had a lot of chatter so i turned the sensitivity down to @ 40 out of a possible 99 and it quitened right up. The are i live in is rural compared to many of your areas so i cannot really say that you wont have a problem but for me it is great so far.
I have been studying the manual i got online for the past 3 weeks while waiting for it so i was already very familiar with it before it got here.

I've had a very good experience with my T2, not sure I would buy one (won mine in raffle). But I definitely approve of it for coin hunting.

The T2 or F-75 (very similar) have good reviews for the most part.

Congrats.

If you get a chance, bury a dime or some coin and check for depth.

I don't know about the T2 depth meter but on all meter machines I've owned they registered the target about 30% deeper than it really was.

Keep in mind that most of us folks swing our coils 1 to 2 inches above the grass or ground when we search thus accounting for the difference.

tnredneck,

I have had my T2 for a couple of months and really like it. Wasn't the case at first, but I can assure you that given a little time you will be impressed. The targets have to be there as the best machines in the world won't create them for you, but I promise if you go back to some of your old spots that had deep stuff you will be amazed at what you will pull out. Turned fields a prime example where some stuff is unusually deep and missed by many detectors. The little coil just almost seems too small for you actually use it. But........If you really tally the hours used with both coils you will be shocked at how productive the 5 inch coil is. Especially at home sites. Bury a dime at 8 inches and try em both and you will be amazed at the depth the 5 inch coil will give you. It is much more stable and will allow you to crank the sensitivity a good bit higher than the 11 and remain stable. The depth isn't as accurate on the 5 inch as it will show things a bit deeper than they are. On coins I think you will find the depth spot on with the 11. AS the depth scale is geared toward coins smaller objects will be shallower than indicated and the larger vice versa. I tried to run mine too hot at first and it took me a while to find out depth suffers little by running it at a more stable setting and you will cover more ground and find it more enjoyable. I think it takes a LONG time to really start realizing the full potential of a metal detector and the T2 is no exception, but at this early stage I sure think it is a keeper. I hunt with it almost every day.:icon_thumleft:
