Started out 3 weeks ago into the hobby with a BH LS Camo. After a few trips out having the detector act spasticly at random points mostly in the woods, then having the headphone jack lock nut back out and disappear in the field, I called BH to see what was happening.
The erratic chatter and distorted / breaking up of the audio on the machine noticeable in all metal mode was deemed to be lose contacts in the machine. the rep recommended I return the machine and get a new one.
after using the BH, I decided to go with the next best model in the store and opted for a gamma 6000.
Fingers crossed lets see if this machine outperforms and outlasts the one it replaced.

The Gamma 6000 it my go to machine with the stock 8" coil. The discrimination is excellent rejects bottle caps yet can pick up lead pellets at 5" at 94 sens. In my soil it can find a quarter at 11-12" deep (94-96 sens). The Gamma has a very quick recovery speed as it shares the same internal performance components of the Omega 8000. Out of all my dry land detectors including a G2, Fors Core, the Gamma is my pick when i want to dig less non-ferrous and ferrous junk and find more coins.

good to hear! I opted for the BH LS originally as I wanted to see how I liked the hobby and didnt want to drop $500 on a machine I may not be interested in using. Well. im hooked on the hobby so I used the warranty issue to justify bumping up to the Tek Gamma. Given that it was a gift card I had that paid for the upgrade, I couldn't be more content.
now to get this thing out in the field!

As a high end intermediate machine, I believe the Gamma 6000 covers all a detectorist needs to find anything up to 11" in the ground, and do it with lightening recovery rate as well as solid ID. Not many can say this for what's available in the Gamma's price range.

Assembled it and tossed a battery in and walked around the yard for a min to get a feel for the interface and tones. WOW. What a more powerful machine than the Land Star! Much more intuitive!
Im gonna have some learning to do to get proficient with this baby. Cant wait!

One thing I've noticed that I was wondering about.
on a short run around the yard today to test her out I noticed at one spot the detector screen would suddenly act erratic. The letters in the top right would flash and the unit would seem to momentarily shut down until I moved away from the small spot.
Only occurred in that one spot. then while walking to the house I ran the coil over a 40lb solid steel bushing I had laying around. the detector did the exact same thing if I got the coil too close to it.
sensitivity did little to affect the outcome.
im guessing when the machine encounters a very large solid metal object close to the coil it shuts itself down or acts spastic to prevent damage or from an overload of signals?
worka great otherwise.
Anyone with a tek or gamma specifically noticed this or can reproduce it with their machine?

Guessing that the erratic spot has a very large metal object right under the surface

Sounds like an "overload" signal. The screen usually goes nuts with two dashes where the numbers are. It does not hurt the detector. It's just telling you that the return signal is overwhelming and it cannot make sense of it. Big objects or even a large coin too close to the coil will cause it. It is mentioned on the brochure, but I didn't see it in the manual.
